i've been wondering about the evolution of the Jamaican accent. i know that Jamaica was a British colony before declaring independence. which of the regional English accents contributed most to the sound of the Jamaican? or, to get at probably the same bit of information another way...which existing British accent is most similar to the Jamaican?
