I'm looking for the german word for over-improved.
I think it's most commonly used to describe bad architecture, as in, improving something to the point of making it worse.... :0

Re: German word for: over-improved?
Sun, July 3, 2005 - 12:53 PMI'm afraid my deutsch doesn't include that word. I immediately tried to construct it only to come up with verbessern! It should start with 'ver' the morpheme for things going wrong like 'verlieren', 'vergehen', etc. and then put on 'make better'.
Sorry not to be much help.

Mon, July 4, 2005 - 7:26 PMi might be wrong, but is it not correct to say something is uber-verbessert? -

Well, I'm not a native speaker, and don't even really have native competence, but hearing "überverbessern" in the context we're describing would be instantly understandable to me, anyway. Like "way overdone".
Guess I'd better find a native speaker!
